How It Works
From Zero to Playing in One Session
Dave's teaching method uses pre-built practice hands so you're not staring at random tiles wondering what to do. You learn by doing.

Find Your Tiles

Each student gets a curated hand card. Find your tiles in the set and rack them.

Read the Pattern

Identify what category your tiles belong to. Spot the 3 that don't fit. Separate them.

Build & Trade

Build your wall, go through the Charleston, and see how your hand shapes up.

Play the Game

Once you've practiced the setup, you're ready for a real game. That fast.

Dave Archer

Dave started playing American Mahjong and fell in love with the combination of strategy, social connection, and the simple joy of getting people around a table. What began as a hobby turned into something bigger when he started teaching and realized how many people were looking for exactly this kind of experience.

Now an official instructor with the Beverly Recreation Department and a partner with Beverly Main Streets and the Beverly 400 celebration, Dave is building a local mahjong community from the ground up. His teaching style is patient, hands-on, and designed to get you playing as fast as possible.
